While staying in Puebla, Mexico for a month at an artist residency, I became fascinated with the Luchadores that would parade through the streets and then stage incredible fights in the Puebla Arena, which is, in my opinion - the best place to see a Lucha Libre event and which takes place every Monday night!

This painting is a tribute to the daring artistry of Lucha Libre - translation: Free Fighting - where anything is possible. Layered on radiant gold leaf, it captures not just the color and spectacle but the immense courage of these performers who push the limits of human strength and grace for our entertainment. It honors those who risk life and limb in the ring, not just as athletes but as storytellers, transforming their bodies into living legends. It’s a celebration of an art form where bravery meets performance, dazzling us with every leap.
